Alberto – I had the pleasure of attending Ryron’s seminar last year, and I am considering taking classes at your school. I am living in Delaware and will have to take a look at finances. However, I am thinking about starting sometime in December. I have trained off and on over the last few years at a few schools, but none of them placed much emphasis on self-defense. Could you provide me some details on prices, contracts, etc? I’m looking forward to getting back into BJJ the Gracie way. Thanks for your time.
-Brian
I am strongly considering Main Line Jiu Jitsu to begin taking GJJ. One drawback that I see is the Class Schedule. There doesn’t seem to be enough Open Mat times. Seems limited otherwise as well. No Beginner classes on the schedule?
Thank you for your comment. Gracie Combatives is a beginner class. Here you will learn the 36 most important techniques of ALL the Gracie Jiu Jitsu curriculum. When you are a begginner there is more value in learning the techniques than in sparring. That is why sparring or open mat times are limited for three stripe white belts and above. Once you earn your blue belt and move on to the Master Cycle the open mat time or sparring time increases. Safety and injury prevention is our number one concern. Feel free to come to any Gracie Combatives class and enjoy our two week free trial.
not trying to say you are wrong but, gsp does have beettr striking BUT he’s not a beettr wrestler than shield and by far, shields is a multi time wrestling medalist, also has compited many times in jj competitions and has medal in fact one of those tornaments gsp was submitted by marcelo garcia in the first eliminatory round and shield submitted marcelo in the finals of that same tornament to be the only american to medal, shields is a specialist he does have the edge on the grown
I wanna thank the Gracie brothers for takling about the difference between UFC an a street fight..there explanations were clear an simple to understand..I have always been a striker fighter my whole life, an i am convinced that every fighter needs Gracie Jiu-jitsu..I HOPE AN PRAY that the Gracie Academy will come to hawaii or do a seminar here..but if they did in the past i feel like such an idiot..much respect to the Gracie family..
Alberto,
Thank you for taking the time to welcome me;. Since I stepped foot on your mat, the time and attention you have given me is much appreciated. Your teaching style is clear, and very informative. My only issue is that we only meet three days a week instead of 5 or 7. I want to do more, learn more and practice more. I know this is the best model and I’m only wanting more because it is so much fun and so “smart” with the use of body mechanics. I look forward to continuing my education.
Thank you for taking the time to write Craig. I appreciate your comments. I have the same concerns as you and I am working towards increasing the amount of day and evening classes for all levels available. Probably in the first months of 2013 we will have more options.
Thank you for writing Cynthia,
Gracie Combatives is a great program for both men and women. Please come by to any Gracie Combatives class to start your two week free trial.
Hello, My name is Miguel and I live in NYC, there are a lot of great Jiu jitsu schools here, but, none emphasize self defense like the Gracie Academy in Torrance does. I was wondering whether you could recommend a school, here in NYC. I would highly value advice from a Black belt from the headquarters. I would also consider driving down to philadelphia, if you were to teach a Saturday and Sunday class, or mabe you could start a weekend group here in NYC. But, that’s probably asking too much. Anyway, any advice would be welcome. Thank you for your time.
Hello Miguel,
Thank you for taking the time to write. It would be great to meet you and have you join us in one of our Gracie Combatives classes. Please note that there are two Gracie Academy CTC’s (Certified Training Centers) that might be closer to you. One is in Queens and the other one is in Hartford, Connecticut. To check all of our locations please go to http://www.gracieacademy.com. You can also take advantage of our online curriculum at http://www.gracieuniversity.com. I will let you know next time in town.
Hello Ben,
Please feel free to join us with your son or daughter for a free class trial. Cost depends on the number of lessons he/she wishes to take per week. But before discussing pricing I would prefer to determine if what we offer is what you are looking for.
Hello Brenda,
Jr. Grapplers class is every Monday and Friday from 4-5pm. Feel free to come for a free trial any time. We have ongoing classes that your kids can start at any point.
Alberto & Trish,
Thank you very much on helping me out on my rehab. After 2 knee operations in past year(ACL), i was told 9-12 months recovery before resuming Juijitsu. I know u are doing this for me and I appreciate it alot.
Mark
I really enjoy your classes at Mainline. Looking forward to joining. Also, would like to participate in the open mat sessions. Lastly, what are the new times for Friday and Saturday?
Hi Alberto,
My daughter Sarah (11 years old) came to try the bully proofing classes a few times a year or so ago. You were offering 5 free trials.
She enjoyed it, however, I had to have further shoulder surgery and couldn’t get her there again.
I’d like her to get back into it to gain some confidence as far as kids at school being tough on her.
Could she try this class again?
I’ll need to look at the calendar to see when a good time for her to start, since she has a few things scheduled.
Let me know if this is ok.
Thank you.
Leslie
Hello,
Can you send me the rates for your classes?
Thanks,
Jeff
